Michelle Dao**, Major Gifts Officer
Michelle Dao joined the Orange Catholic Foundation in the Summer of 2016. She is responsible for planning, organizing and directing all major gifts initiatives, including the annual major gift appeal to support the Christ Cathedral campus and its ongoing ministries. Michelle works closely with donors and volunteers focusing on advancing the mission of the Foundation through philanthropy and community engagement. Additional areas of oversight include the newly formed Catholic Women in Philanthropy and Leadership and the annual Celebration of Faith Gala.
Michelle was raised in Orange County where she was a product of Catholic school education, having attended St. Callistus Catholic Elementary School (pre-Christ Cathedral Academy) and has been actively involved in Youth and Young Adult programs at her parish (St. Callistus and now at Christ Cathedral). In addition to her experience with the Catholic community in Orange County, Michelle also has a track record in fundraising, special events and alumni relations at the University of San Francisco where she earned a degree in Business Marketing.
In her free time, Michelle enjoys traveling and spending time with her dog, Otis.
James Dow, Database Manager
James Dow began his database career at NAS Miramar stationed at Naval Fighter Weapons School (Topgun) managing classified materials and data for the A-4, F-14, F-18 and F-16 aircraft. After completing a three-year tour, he served on the USS Constellation for three years. He is experienced in information technology and data management, and will support the Foundation with oversight of data entry, tracking, reporting and analysis to assist with relationship management.
In the nonprofit sector, James served at a local Boys & Girls Club, Goodwill of Orange County and The Webb Schools, a private boarding school in Claremont. He has worked with Raiser’s Edge Blackbaud system including installation, configuration, management and staff training.
Andrew Hudson, Controller
Andrew Hudson joined the Orange Catholic Foundation in 2013. Prior to Controller, he held several key accounting positions within the Foundation, learning all aspects of the Foundation’s financials and investments. As the Controller, he is responsible for the financial reporting and overall financial management of the Foundation. His focus is on maintaining accurate financials while simultaneously working to enhance the accounting procedures and operational efficiencies of the organization. Andrew holds a Bachelor in Science Degree in Accounting from San Diego State University.
Debbie Leaverton, Stewardship and Partner Success Officer
Debbie started with the Diocese of Orange in 2001 and then moved to the Orange Catholic Foundation in 2008, and is responsible for directing the annual Pastoral Services Appeal and the Parish Stewardship Education ministry.
Debbie leads the annual diocesan Stewardship Renewal process that takes place each November, provides consultation to parishes for capital campaigns, electronic giving and coordinates formation opportunities to help parishes embrace Christian Stewardship as a way of life. She first began working for the Church as a volunteer catechist for elementary, youth ministry and Confirmation. She served on her parish’s Pastoral Council and started her parish’s Stewardship Committee in 2005. Debbie’s background includes training and development, project management and sales and marketing. She served on the Board of the International Catholic Stewardship Council for seven years and firmly believes that Christian stewardship is the living of our faith as Disciples of Christ. She is inspired by working with parish leadership and seeing the impact Stewardship formation can have on parishes, increasing engagement of all parishioners and revitalizing the life of the parishes.
Debbie and her husband enjoy gardening, their two dogs, Annie and Max, and the outdoors traveling in their RV.
Beverli Legua, Marketing and Events Director
At the Orange Catholic Foundation, Beverli directs the Foundation’s communications, marketing materials, website, and social media. She oversees and supports various types of events that the Foundation hosts throughout the year, including the Conference on Business & Ethics and Wills and Trusts Week. She collaborates with different diocesan departments and vendors to further the mission of the Foundation and the Diocese of Orange.
Beverli graduated from the University of California, Irvine with a BA in Film and Media Studies, and a Digital Arts Minor. Although, her background encompasses a variety of industries, including entertainment and retail, her true passion is serving within the Catholic Church. Beverli has been involved in church ministry since she was a child and currently serves in her parish’s young adult ministry.
Elizabeth McKibbin, Vice President of Philanthropy
Elizabeth McKibbin is a seasoned fundraising professional with more than 10 years’ experience serving prominent nonprofit organizations, including Orange County School of the Arts (OCSA), Orangewood Foundation, KidWorks and others. In her previous positions, Elizabeth directed major gifts programs, managed annual fundraising events, led individual, corporate and foundation giving, and planned giving programs. One of her key strengths is her ability to help facilitate and sustain lasting and effective relationships with community philanthropists, board members, colleagues, volunteers, and foundation partners.
In her new role, Elizabeth is responsible for the development and strategic implementation of fundraising programs of the Orange Catholic Foundation. In her role as Vice President of Philanthropy, she will serve as a key member of the senior management team and work to advance the mission, values, and strategic goals of the Foundation.
Suzanne Nunn, Executive Director
Sue is the current Executive Director of the Orange Catholic Foundation. Sue has served the Orange Catholic Foundation since 2010 and is responsible for directing the Endowment Development and Asset and Legacy Giving programs throughout our Catholic community. She provides consultation for parishes on the implementation of Asset and Legacy giving programs, Estate and Trusts administration, Creative Giving workshops and Wills & Trusts weeks to help parishes embrace Christian Stewardship as a way of life. Throughout our lives, we are given the opportunity and challenge to be a faithful steward of the gifts God has given us. How can we be good stewards of those gifts after we no longer need them? Sue works closely with individuals and families to begin to answer that question by faithful, thoughtful and informed planning. Sue firmly believes that every good thing we have is ours only by God’s grace and intended to be used for His purpose. She enjoys working with families in response to God’s involvement in their life, helping them plan their legacy of faith, preparing for their discussion with their personal advisors.
Sue and her husband Charlie have 6 children and 11 grandchildren. Sue and Charlie serve on the Inquiry team at their parish, St. Timothy in Laguna Niguel.
Anna Orozco*, Gift Processing Associate
Anna joined the Orange Catholic Foundation in June 2013. Anna previously worked for the Crystal Cathedral Ministries for 18 years. During that time, she held many positions, last of which was Administrative Assistant to the CFO. She also worked with Stewardship records and Planned Giving. At the Orange Catholic Foundation, Anna assists with data entry, processing documents and gifts from donors and receives calls and inquiries. She loves doing mission ministry work for the Lord and is a happy and friendly addition to the Orange Catholic Foundation.
Roxanna Payton*, Executive Associate to the Board of Directors and Gift Planning Manager
Roxanna is the assistant to the Executive Director and President of the Orange Catholic Foundation. She provides administrative support to the office staff and to the Board of Directors of the Orange Catholic Foundation. Roxanna has worked as an administrative assistant for the Diocese of Orange for more than eleven years in various departments. She is fluent in English and Spanish, and earned her B.A in American Literature and Public Affairs from the University of California, Los Angeles.
Denise Pham**, Senior Accountant
Denise Pham joined the Orange Catholic Foundation in 2017 with non-profit accounting experience. She assists the Foundation with day-to-day accounting and finance functions for various funds, campaigns and investments. Denise earned her B.A in Accounting from California State University, Fullerton. Denise and her husband have one daughter and three sons who all attended St. Barbara Catholic School and two children graduated from Mater Dei High School. Denise speaks both English and Vietnamese and she enjoys volunteering in the bilingual religious education program at Our Lady of La Vang Parish.
