“In today’s business world, some of the biggest challenges that we face is the temptation to look after the business as opposed to the people; and I think our Catholic training has said that when you make a decision, you make it fully understanding the impact.” Annette Walker, President of City of Hope, Orange County, 2017 Bishop’s Award for Exemplary Business Integrity honoree.

For the past 18 years, the Orange Catholic Foundation has presented the Conference on Business & Ethics. This premier annual event provides a forum for a faith-based community of influential business, religious, academic and philanthropic leaders who share a common commitment to ethical best practices to gather, grow and give back. As a testament to the generosity of over 800 attendees each year, approximately 15,000 students have directly benefited from tuition assistance through the Support Our Schools fundraising opportunity since 2005.

At the day of the event, generous donors and participants physically hand donation forms to students showing their commitment, support and solidarity towards Catholic education.

“Tuition assistance changed my life. It made God a part of my life on a daily basis and gave me a safe community where I was able to learn and grow, so thank you!” - Marvelle Figueroa, 2018 tuition assistance recipient.

Catholic schools have a critically important role to play in evangelization and in the mission of the Church, which is why the Orange Catholic Foundation raises much needed funds each year to support Catholic education and to help students like Marvelle.

Created in partnership with Farmers & Merchants Bank and Trust in 2002, the Conference on Business & Ethics has been an uplifting and inspiring event for thousands of prominent business leaders, many who return year after year to gain valuable insight and leave inspired and renewed.

Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, this year’s event scheduled for May 15, 2020 has been cancelled and rescheduled for April 14, 2021 at Hotel Irvine. “The health, safety and well-being of our attendees, speakers, honorees and community is our priority during this time.” Sue Nunn Orange Catholic Foundation’s Acting Executive Director.

Notable keynote-speakers include Vin Scully, retired LA Dodgers sportscaster; Cardinal Timothy Michael Dolan, Archbishop of New York; Dr. Carolyn Woo, President Emeritus of Catholic Relief Services.

Although the conference for this year has been cancelled, the need to support Catholic Education in our diocese is crucial.
