Farmers & Merchants Lifetime Achievement Award Honoree:
Coach Bruce Rollinson

Bruce Rollinson has been the coach at Mater Dei, his alma mater, since 1989, posting a record of 287-83-2. During Rollinson’s tenure, the Monarchs have played in 11 CIF-Southern Section championship games and have won five CIF section titles. He has coached 55 players who have won all-state honors. He was named the National High School Coaches Association Coach of the Year earlier this year.

USA Today named Mater Dei its national champion twice in the 1990s. Among the many top players he has coached are quarterbacks Matt Barkley and Matt Leinart, both of whom went to USC, where Rollinson also played football. Rollinson, who has taught history at Mater Dei, has a bachelor’s degree in business administration from USC and a master’s in education from Azusa Pacific.

A high school coach often is a role model or even a father figure. Rollinson has been a life guide for hundreds of young men over the past 29 years. This year, 2017, his team was undefeated going 15-0 and won the CIF Division 1 championship, the State open division championship and were crowned the undisputed National champions by USA Today and Max Preps. GO MONARCHS!

He is married to Laurie and has two daughters, Caroline Rollinson Flanagan and Catherine Rollinson Pedersen, and two grandchildren, Matthew Flanagan and Joseph Charles Flanagan.
