Christ Cathedral has a multilayered mission — and with the rollout of the new design plans that will transform the former Crystal Cathedral into the mother church of the Diocese of Orange, it has taken a big step toward realizing that mission.

A California Roman Catholic diocese that bought the Crystal Cathedral, famed for its “Hour of Power” broadcasts, plans a remodel to orient the mega-church’s interior toward an altar and close off some views, a rector said on Thursday.

The rollout is on – three years since its $57.5 million acquisition, the centerpiece plans for Crystal Cathedral’s transformation into the seat of the 1.3 million-member diocese of Orange are being released at this hour at the Garden Grove site.

EWTN will locate a broadcast facility on the Cathedral campus – sharing inspiring stories of the Catholic journey of faith in Southern California with its global audience.

As part of this partnership Immaculate Heart Radio will expand its signal to cover all of Orange County with inspiring Catholic radio.
